Aston Martin F1® Team Celebrates Sustainability Day with New Certifications

Aston Martin F1® Team hosts a sustainability showcase at AMR Campus, celebrating BSI certifications in quality management and sustainable events.

Annual Sustainability Day at Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team Marked by BSI Certificate Presentation as Team Achieves ISO 9001 and ISO 20121 Certifications

Aston Martin Aramco holds sustainability showcase at its AMR Technology Campus in Silverstone and celebrates achieving BSI standards in quality management and sustainable events management.

Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team is committed to advancing sustainability and quality across its operations as part of its Make A Mark responsible business strategy. The team aims not only to comply with regulatory standards but exceed them by promoting sustainable product design, reducing carbon emissions, and fostering social value through collaboration with its people, partners, and suppliers.

To showcase its commitment to sustainability and celebrate achievements and milestones on its sustainability journey, the team held its annual Sustainability Day on 29 October. The team welcomed its sustainability partners to its state-of-the-art AMR Technology Campus – the most sustainable F1® facility ever built – to meet with team members and share insightful information about the future of sustainability.

    Learning, Inspiration and Positive Action

Aston Martin Aramco team members were invited to a sustainability showcase featuring interactive stalls where they could learn more about how the team is driving sustainability and discover practical ways to reduce their environmental footprint, including electric vehicle and car sharing schemes as well as how to reduce packaging waste and create beeswax wraps.

Team members also attended a thought leadership panel discussion on how strong management systems help businesses manage environmental sustainability. In the illuminating discussion, Aston Martin Aramco and its sustainability partners shared insights into how structured frameworks such as the FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation – a programme that supports motorsport stakeholders by quantifying and improving their environmental position and an award received by the team in 2022 – can integrate sustainability, ensure compliance, and optimise resource use within businesses. Panellists included Aston Martin Aramco Operations Director Ben Fitzgerald, Aston Martin Aramco ESG Director Debbie Wall, NexGen CP Corporate Development Monica Kars, FIA Sport Sustainability Manager Pierre Villez, Waste Efficiency Ltd Compliance Manager Cath Jackson, and Laurie Wood, UK&I Sector Lead – Sustainability for BSI.

Achieving ISO 9001 and ISO 20121 Certifications

Having already achieved ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification from BSI and becoming the first Formula One® team to comply with ISO standard 50001 Energy Management, Aston Martin Aramco has now been awarded ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 20121 Sustainable Events Management certification. To celebrate the milestone, the team’s Sustainability Day was marked by Chris Wright, Acting Global Marketing Director, Assurance, presenting the certifications and accompanying trophy to Operations Director Ben Fitzgerald.

Attaining certification to these standards with BSI underlines the team’s position as a leader in sustainability within the motorsport industry and reinforces its commitment to a safer, more sustainable operational environment as it continues to drive positive progress for the planet and its people as part of its Mark A Mark responsible business strategy.
