The projects we're working on

With government funding BSI is working on an important series of exciting new projects. In different ways the projects drive forward key economic sectors, enhance and improve the ways of organizations work, and help everyone in the UK live in more sustainable and safe ways.

For example:

  • We've developed standards for the construction industry to increase efficiency and introduce smart new ways of working.
  • We are encouraging the growth of emerging technologies such as cell therapies and renewable energy through new standards and recommendations.
  • We've carried out research to understand more about the needs of small and medium sized businesses and how and where standards can help them.
  • Each project needs a statement of support from a relevant government department, making sure we stay focused in areas that matter to governement.

Independent living

Independent living, increasingly important for an ageing population, is one of four key emerging technologies Innovate UK is keen to support through collaboration with BSI.
