Approved training provider for New York City Department of Buildings (NYC DOB)

Our NYC DOB-approved training courses are offered in person at our training facility located at 141 West 36th Street, Third Floor, New York, NY 10018.

Our training covers a range of areas, including: concrete safety, cranes & derrick, EPA 608 & radiation, fire safety, HAZMAT, OSHA, scaffold safety, silica, and
site safety.

Site Safety Training (SST) is required by local law 196. We provide equal access to construction site safety training required by section 3321 of the New York City building code.

  • • 30-hour Concrete Safety Manager
    • 8-hour Concrete Safety Manager Refresher

    Our courses allow you to meet the requirement to become a Concrete Safety Manager and maintain your certification. To obtain a Concrete Safety Manager Certificate, you must complete and submit to the Licensing Unit - a certificate of completion for 30 hours of training as mandated by - the 2014 NYC Construction Codes, Building Code Chapter 33 §3310.9.1 Concrete Safety Manager; Local Law 40-2008 and Title 1 of Rules of the City of New York – Section 3310-02 Concrete Safety Manager.

  • • Certification 16-hour Rigging Worker
    • 4-hour Mast Climber User and Operator

    The 16-hour Rigging Worker course is required by the NYC DOB for all individuals who perform rigging or signaling work in conjunction with the hoisting or lowering of articles on the outside of a building with hoisting equipment, and that aren't directly employed by a NYC licensed rigger. As per 3316.9.2.1 of the 2014 NYC Construction Code, this course covers rigging in construction, including an overview of OSHA and DOB codes and procedures.

    The 4-hour Mast Climber course is required for all individuals who install, remove, use, or operate a mast climber as per NYC DOB §3314-01 mast-climbing work platforms (mast climbers).

  • • EPA 608 Certification for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration

    • Cooling Tower Fundamentals

    EPA 608 UNIVERSAL Certification - Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act requires that all persons who maintain, service, repair both low and high-pressure equipment, as well as small appliances or dispose of appliances that contain regulated refrigerants, be certified in proper refrigerant handling techniques by passing the EPA 608 Technician Certification exam. Our EPA 608 course covers all the necessary material for taking the test.

    Our Radiation Safety Basic 1 Day course covers OSHA and EPA requirements for fundamentals of radiation and radioactivity, radiation biology, radiation dose limits and ALARA, personnel monitoring, access controls and postings, emergency and spill procedures, contamination control, and employee responsibilities.

    Our Cooling Tower Fundamentals is a customized course, taught by a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and a University Professor, meeting the ASHRAE Standard 188P and Cooling Technology Institute Guidelines (CTI) WTB-148. The DOB and DOH websites provide compliance requirements.

    Where a Site Safety Manager or Site Safety Coordinator is required by the Building Code, the owner shall designate a person to be the Fire Safety Manager for the construction site.

    Construction permittees must deploy pedestrian traffic managers when required by the NYC DOT and NYC DOB for any of the construction activities. All flaggers shall be adequately educated in flagging procedures by accredited training programs.

    Firestop is widely recognized as a problematic issue for facilities engineering professionals. It's perhaps the most misapplied and misunderstood segment on Life-Safety in modern construction, especially with the constant changes made for voice and data cabling.

    New York City Fire Department (FDNY) requires all Fire Safety Director (FSD), Fire Safety / Emergency Action Plan Director (FS / EAPD), and the Fire and Life Safety (FLS) Director applicants for Certificate of Fitness (CoF) to receive an Active Shooter and Medical Emergency Preparedness (ASMEP) training course by FDNY-accredited school.

    The NYC DOB Site Safety Training (SST) cards are required to comply with the Local Law 196. Applicability of Training Requirement for Permit holders are required to attest to DOB that workers are trained.

    If you have previously completed a DOB-approved training course, you may already have earned credit for some of your required hours for SST certification. Regardless of whether or not you've completed all of your required training through BSI, you can submit an application to have your site safety training card issued by us.
