This course provides an in-depth explanation of the methodology used to develop design and process FMEA which is line with the methods specified in the latest Failure Mode and Effects Analysis reference manual (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis by AIAG-VDA) detailing the critical steps to identify, analyse, evaluate and mitigate product and process risks.

    How will I benefit?

    This course will help you:

    • Understand the key differences between the current and previous version of FMEA
    • Learn the new 6-step approach in developing the FMEA
    • Understand how to assess and prioritize risk associated with product and process design using the new severity, occurrence and detection rankings
    • Understand the challenges associated with product and process design
    • Understand the strategies available to migrate to the new FMEA formats.

Our high impact accelerated learning approach increases learning by improving knowledge retention and skill application. This course is activity-based, resulting in a deeper understanding of the material and a greater impact on job performance.

      • Identify the activities involved in the development of an FMEA
      • Carry out 6-step approach to complete an FMEA
      • Assign risk index associated with the failure modes
      • Determine the action priority to reduce or eliminate the high risk factor within the processes

Delegates will have the skills to:

      • Become a productive member of a product or process design team
      • Apply the steps involved for a successful FMEA
    • Anyone involved in product and process development activities, either as a team member or leading the activities, IATF 16949 auditors, anyone interested in learning more about FMEA, and anyone involved in the implementation of IATF 16949.

      Prerequisites:
You should be able to demonstrate the following minimum competencies prior to attending the course:

      • Applicable ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements related to the risk analysis.

This can be obtained through attendance of either our IATF 16949 Requirements Training Course (or equivalent)
