What do we test for?

Our service includes CE marking on a product, third-party certification with a BSI Kitemark to British and European standards, or your specific test requirements.

We work with system houses and fabricators and we test the following products (including bi-fold doors):

  • PVC-U windows, doors and profiles
  • Aluminium doors and windows
  • Timber doors and windows
  • Steel and composite doors and windows

What is the difference between CE/UKCA marking and a BSI Kitemark™?

CE marking on a product is mandatory. It proves that it meets the minimum legal requirements. 

The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessment) mark is the new UK product marking that has come into force for certain products, including windows and doors, that are placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). It covers most products that previously required the CE marking. Although UKCA marking came into force on 1 January 2021, organizations have until 31 December 2021 to obtain a new certificate to support their UKCA marking. For products placed on the market in Great Britain after the end of 2021, CE marking for windows and doors will not be recognized. This means it’s important for manufacturers to act now to remain compliant. As an approved body for UKCA marking BSI can provide this service, so contact us to find out more.

It’s important to note that UKCA marking is not recognized in the EU market, so products that are placed on the market in the EU must still have the CE marking affixed.

Achieving a BSI Kitemark for a product is voluntary. It is a quality mark unique to BSI and is recognized worldwide as a symbol of quality, safety and trust.

It proves that a product has been tested over and above the minimum legal requirements for additional quality and reliability, including the assessment of a quality management system.
