Basic control charts such as the Xbar-R and X-MR by Dr. Walter A. Shewhart have been in use since the 1920s. The limitations of these control charts are that they are not effective to detect small shift of 1.5 sigma or less. Hence, when small shifts are to be measured, alternatives such as the Cumulative-Sum (CUSUM) & Exponentially Weighted Moving-Average (EWMA) are better options. This course covers the CUSUM and EWMA control charts, as well as the different methods to compute process capability where the process does not follow normal distribution.
How will I benefit?
Participants will be able to:
- greatly reduce the time needed to calculate and analyze advanced control charts, as well as Process Capability Analysis
- minimize the calculation error due to manual calculation
- confidently share the results obtained with internal/external customers.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for managers, engineers or executives who are involved in quality improvement initiatives. It is equally suitable for those who are already using SPC; those who would like to be exposed to the use of Advanced SPC with Minitab software, as well as those who would like to sharpen their competency in the interpretation of the results.
What will I learn?
This course is designed for learners in the manufacturing or service industry who would like to improve control over key process/product characteristics. Learners will be given detailed understanding on the development, implementation, and maintenance of the mentioned advanced control charts. A combination of theory, practical examples, and exercises are used to facilitate participants’ involvement, interest and application.
What is included?
Inclusive of Minitab trial version.
On completion, you will be awarded an internationally recognized BSI Training Academy certificate.
