JC Sekar, CEO and Co-founder, AcuiZen Technologies Singapore Pte Ltd

JC is a start-up founder who is leveraging his professional experience to focus on people-centric digital transformation. 

During his professional career of over three decades, JC has travelled extensively to develop business and advise cross-industry stakeholders on their Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental practices and risk mitigation strategies. He is also credited with conceptualizing and launching several new service offerings during the course of his professional career.

Most recently, JC has contributed towards the development of the 3C-3P framework for a resilient industrial safety system that was included in a UNIDO publication on the subject. 

Michael Tooma, Managing Partner, Clyde & Co

Michael is an attorney with global law firm Clyde & Co, specialising in major industrial safety disaster response and litigation. With 25 years of experience in providing strategic crisis management and proactive resilience advice to companies around the world, he is also the author of numerous books on occupational safety and health law. 

Michael is currently co-authoring the book on measuring safety performance differently: Due Diligence Index with Prof Sidney Dekker, one of the global pioneers of the Safety II movement.

Michael W. Toffel, Professor, Harvard Business School

Mike Toffel is a Professor at the Harvard Business School, and Faculty Chair of the HBS Business and Environment Initiative. He is one of the authors of the research we are discussing today.

Michael’s research examines how companies manage environmental impacts and working conditions in their operations and supply chains, including their use of management system standards and supplier codes of conduct. 

He also studies corporate decarbonization approaches, how to make environmental and safety regulators and auditors more effective, and the drivers and consequences of CEO activism. He hosts the HBS Climate Rising podcast and created the HBS Working Conditions in Supply Chains microsite to bring research insights to managers.

Dave R. Meyer, Principal Consultant, BSI

Mr Dave R. Meyer, a Principal Consultant and BSI Consulting Regional Practice Leader for Sustainability and Management systems, is located in the Portland Oregon area.

An EHS and sustainability-focused practitioner with over 40 years of experience in corporate governance and environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance issues, Dave has supported a wide variety of clients in providing EHS, management systems and supplier responsibility audit support.

Dave has a deep track record of success in leading organizations in leveraging regulatory compliance and organizational risks, implementing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives, and identifying methods and practices to reduce waste in the production of consumer and industrial goods. As a qualified ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, he is accomplished in public/private sector ISO-based EHS management systems. 

His nine years of experience with BSI have been focused on responsible supply chain management, circular economy and life cycle based approaches to production and manufacturing, comprehensive EHS auditing and compliance (including performing EHS assessments throughout the U.S., Canada and western Europe), integrated management systems, corporate materiality assessments and responsibility reporting, and embedded sustainability strategy and implementation.
