NOTE 1 Remote assistance does not include the dynamic driving task, fallback or any immediate safety critical interventions.
NOTE 2 Remote assistance supports trip continuation, safety and comfort and may include providing an automated driving system with revised goals and/or tasks and support/information for vehicle occupants or other road users.

NOTE 1 This definition is adapted from SAE J3016 (2021) [7] with the modification that the term “remote” indicates beyond visual line-of-sight of the subject vehicle.
NOTE 2 Remote assistance does not include dynamic driving task or fallback performance by a remote driver. The automated driving system performs the complete dynamic driving task and/or fallback, even when assisted by a remote operator.
