We have a new guide that gives smaller businesses practical help with OH&S
What’s happened and why?
It’s apparent that smaller businesses sometimes overlook health and safety because, although they have legal obligations, it can look complicated and costly to put an OH&S management system in place. To counter that perception, we’ve produced a guide that’s written especially for small businesses. It’s designed to simplify the process of creating an OH&S management system.
How does the guide work?
It provides practical, clause by clause guidance, in simple language, that explains the intention of each clause in the international OH&S standard, BS ISO 45001:2018. The guide says why each clause is important and then gives examples of how requirements can be met.
The aim is to help small businesses develop their own OH&S management system that’s effective in driving performance improvements, but at the same time is proportionate to the needs of the organization, and isn’t just a box-ticking exercise.
Why should I buy the guide?
Smaller organizations suffer a disproportionate amount of workplace injuries and ill health and, beyond the human cost, these organizations lose a lot of productivity as a result. Conversely strong health and safety management results in less lost time and disruption, higher morale and productivity and lower insurance premiums. So it’s a good idea for smaller organizations to improve their health and safety performance.
