BSI, the business standards company, has received official global accreditation status from the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) and from UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) to certify organizations to the new Occupational Health and Safety Management System Standard, ISO 45001:2018.
To gain accredited status to certify organizations, BSI’s migration process and internal auditor training to the new standard have been independently assessed to ensure it operates at the highest level of quality and service. This provides assurance to clients that the certificates issued to them are both credible and impartial.
ISO 45001:2018, which replaces BS OHSAS 18001, is designed to prevent work-related injury and ill-health and to provide safe and healthy workplaces. Some of the key benefits of ISO 45001:2018 include:
Increased organizational resilience through proactive risk prevention, innovation and continual improvement
Strengthening of legal and regulatory compliance whilst reducing business losses
Demonstrates brand responsibility by committing to safe, healthy and sustainable work
Improving worker engagement, retention and recruitment
One global occupational health and safety system for all businesses, of all sizes
Alignment with other key management system standards through the use of a common structure and core text
Pietro Foschi, Group Assurance Director at BSI said “ISO 45001 is the internationally recognized standard on Occupational Health & Safety helping organizations of all sizes and sectors transform workplace practices. Companies embracing ISO 45001 not only demonstrate good health & safety management but also their commitment to the wellbeing of their workers, while improving the resilience of their organization. Achieving accreditation to ISO 45001 is a testament to the investment BSI makes in training our auditors to ensure that our clients take full advantage of the benefits of this new standard.”
