BSI will be hosting ISO Week from 20-24 September. This year celebrates the 75th anniversary of the historic UN meeting in London which established ISO as an organization. ISO and its standards have had a huge impact on the world, enabling positive change, delivering economic growth, and supporting technological innovation. BSI is a founder member of ISO and remains one of the leading members; we are delighted to be hosting the event this year and are using the challenging environment as an opportunity to explore new ways of engaging and working with our ISO peers.
ISO Week is a crucial annual event in international standardisation governance. Senior colleagues from the 165 ISO members (national standards bodies) come together for the General Assembly, to discuss global topics and take the key decisions that enable the smooth running and continual improvement of the organisation. ISO’s main governing bodies, such as the Council and the Technical Management Board, also hold their meetings in the same week.
The theme of this year’s ISO Week is The Future Has Begun. As the world comes to terms with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and we adjust to new ways of working and travel, attendees will experience ISO Week via a bespoke online event platform. This will be the first time that ISO Week has been held entirely virtually and we are excited to demonstrate that even when we can’t be in the same room, we can still come together for an engaging and effective set of meetings. During the week, we will explore new priorities for ISO’s work and how we should adapt to serve our stakeholders in the post-Covid world.
During the Week there will be themed Zones on the Future of the Planet, Society and Work. We will invite thought leaders and innovators to inspire us and share their ideas about the solutions to global challenges and the actions that ISO should take in line with the ISO 2030 strategy.
