On June 15th, the launch event for the anti-bribery management system pilot project jointly implemented by the Shenzhen Institute of Standards and Technology (SIST) and the British Standards Institution (BSI) was officially held. Mr. ZHANG Rui, the CEO of the pilot company Jiangsu Yaomaitong Medical Technology Co., Ltd., Mr. Chris Brown, the Resident Team Leader, from the UK-China Business Environment Programme Standards Strand (BEP-S) project, the British Embassy Beijing and other relevant representatives attended the launch event. The meeting was moderated by Ms. WEN Lifeng, Director of the International Standardization Research Center of SIST. Ms. LIANG Qiaoling, also from the International Standardization Research Center, SIST, reported on the background and plans for the pilot project on behalf of the SIST project team. A consensus on pilot work plans was reached at the meeting, and Jiangsu Yaomaitong Medical Technology Co., Ltd. Anti-bribery Management System Pilot Project Committee was formally established, and the 24 members of the Committee will actively engage in the work to pilot the Anti-bribery Management System standard at Jiangsu Yaomaitong Medical Technology Co., Ltd.
This pilot project on the Anti-bribery Management System standard is an important part of the BEP-S project. The work in the sector of Organizational Governance of BEP-S has full support from the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) and the British Embassy Beijing, implemented by the BSI, SIST and Quality and Standards Academy of Shenzhen Technology University. The pilot project focuses on the promotion and application of ISO 37001:2016 "Anti-Bribery Management Systems - Requirements with Guidance for Use", which is the first international Anti-bribery Management System standard to help organizations deal with bribery risk and abide by relevant laws and regulations of the various countries in which the businesses operate. This standard has been widely adopted in a good number of sectors and industries in China.
Through a more systematic approach to management of Anti-bribery, the Medical Technology industry will be more trusted by its suppliers, customers and the environment in which it operates. This means that businesses can more readily access (and remain in) markets; can more readily enter into deals with lenders, suppliers and buyers; leading to increased trade and commercial exchanges which in turn leads to increased prosperity.
