In recent years there has been an increase in delivery services focusing on individual packages containing chilled and/or frozen goods for direct delivery to the customer. There has also been an increase in small quantity business-to-business chilled and frozen goods deliveries. Food is one item that may be delivered, but not the only type of good delivered using this method.
“ISO 23412:2020 - Indirect, temperature-controlled refrigerated delivery services — Land transport of parcels with intermediate transfer” was published in May 2020. It aims to be a guideline for refrigerated and delivery service providers to support consumer safety through a total control of the cold chain while the refrigerated parcel is in possession of the refrigerated delivery service provider.
