The electronics sector is confronted with many supply chain risks including theft, counterfeit parts, exposure to conflict minerals, human rights violations and environmental exploitation. These violations can potentially harm the organization’s brand, their workers and ultimately their consumers. In order for electronics retail and manufacturing companies to protect themselves from these exposures, they must understand where they are vulnerable within their global supply chain. Electronics organizations must also maintain robust corrective action methods to counteract harmful operating procedures acted out by suppliers who do not uphold the code of conduct set forth by their clientele. It’s imperative that the electronics companies have complete visibility into their suppliers’ practices to make sure they remains compliant with EICC standards, Dodd-Frank regulations, quality standards, and social responsibility policies.
