08 May 2024: BSI (British Standards Institution) and the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will see the two organizations collaborate to support energy, water, waste, transportation, mining, roads, utilities, housing, building and construction organizations.
The Memorandum will enable BSI to work with MOEI to share knowledge and expertise, develop technical services and standards to address industry challenges. The collaboration aims to boost growth, support innovation, and enhance sustainability within the UAE by helping organizations successfully apply national and local policy in areas such as digital transformation, sustainability, quality and health, safety, and well-being.
His Excellency Eng Hassan Al Mansouri, Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport at MOEI, said: “MOEI is dedicated to integrating sustainability across its mandates and is keen on forming effective partnerships that help achieve its goals. The new partnership will go a long way in supporting our sustainability agenda in various areas.”
The MOU was signed at BSI’s 120-year Kitemark™ celebration event in London by BSI’s Chief Executive, Susan Taylor Martin, who commented:
“BSI is delighted to have signed an MOU with MOEI, and we’re looking forward to working together to drive impact for businesses, communities, and people throughout the UAE.
“BSI has a long history in supporting the adoption of best practice knowledge in the energy, water, infrastructure housing and transportation sectors. We look forward to working with the Ministry to raise awareness and understanding of the value of standards and certification within the UAE to deliver digital transformation, sustainable growth, innovation, and resilience.”
