National Bank of Egypt obtains certification to ISO 27001
The National Bank of Egypt has announced that it has been awarded the ISO/IEC 27001 certification for its main data center. The announcement was made in a ceremony held at the bank premises and attended by the NBE Chairman, Mr. Hisham Okasha, the Bank Deputies and the bank Executives. Mr Paul Keyworth, Head of Compliance & Risk at the British Standards Institution (BSI) for the Middle East and Africa, along with Dr. Mohamed Aboul Fadl from BSI Egypt presented the certificate to Mr Hisham Okasha, the NBE chairman and expressed their appreciation of the bank's efforts to secure its data.
"This achievement is yet another proof of our strong commitment to protecting customer data and assets ," Mr. Okasha said. " This award shows that we are on the right track that helps us provide our customers with innovative products and services while ensuring we control related technology risks".
Abeer Khedr, NBE Information Security Director, added "with the effort of NBE internal teams, especially IT, information risk management & audit teams, we successfully put in place an effective system that measures and ensures continuous improvement of our information security efforts and their alignment to international standards."
Dalia El Baz , NBE Chief Operations Officer , highlighted that "NBE has lately completed a large renovation project for its data center, which is considered one of the largest in the country, technology infrastructure has been upgraded to ensure we serve our customers with efficient and fast response .”
Earlier this year the National Bank of Egypt, successfully maintained for the third year consecutively, its PCI Data Security Standard certification for securing its cardholder data.
