RasGas Supports Safer Roads in Qatar
First Company in Qatar to Receive ISO Certification for Road Safety Management System.
Doha, Qatar – 30 April, 2014: As the State of Qatar continues its efforts for safer roads; RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) recently received ISO (International Standards Organisation) certification for its road safety management system relating to fleet management. The successful acquisition of ISO 39001 represents an objective endorsement of RasGas’ structured long term approach to road traffic safety improvement. Strategic initiatives such as last year’s collaboration with the Ministry of Interior on training the new specialised Highway Patrol Police force satisfy elements of this approach defined by the standard.
“RasGas does not compromise on safety; as a world class global energy supplier, safety governs every aspect of how we do business. The BS ISO 39001 certification for fleet management is one of the many initiatives RasGas proactively undertakes to ensure the highest safety standards are adhered to. It demonstrates our commitment to improving road safety to ensure that not only our employees, but other road users, arrive home safe every day,” said Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi RasGas Chief Executive Officer.
“I am delighted to be here to help mark this occasion. I applaud RasGas for leading by example with their push to achieve first class global standards across their organisation. By adopting the best-practice management framework set out in ISO 39001, RasGas is actively contributing to reducing the risk of death and serious injury from road traffic accidents. I would like to congratulate Mr Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, Chief Executive Officer, the entire Project team, senior management and all staff members who were involved in this project!” said Mark Basham, Managing Director, BSI EMEA.
The certification currently covers RasGas’ fleet management system in Ras Laffan and encompasses a range of elements within its road safety management system, including vehicle safety, road specifications, road signage and driver training.
